On completion of the General English Plus Examination Preparation (Level 4) graduates will have the English language skills to:

  • speak fluently about personal ideas on familiar topics
  • understand the main points in a range of factual information about familiar topics
  • read and understand a range of information on familiar topics
  • write with reasonable accuracy on familiar topics

Fees:

SIT's English Language Institute fees for international students are competitively priced at NZ$330.00 per week.

To prepare students for further ESOL or mainstream study destinations so that they can communicate more effectively in the community, in employment and/or in further study options. 

Students are tested upon arrival, and based on the placement test results, they are enrolled into a class level. They study with a mix of cultures and nationalities. The friendly and dedicated tutors help them with their learning in a positive and encouraging environment. We help students achieve their goals and improve their language skills for their future success. 

The structure consists of four modules comprising language skill areas with outcomes prescribed for each skill level.

  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing

Students must be at least 16 years of age.

Students will be assessed using placement tests to determine that they are at the entry level required for the programme.  The placement tests consist of a writing test, a dictation, a grammar test and a one-on-one interview with the tutor to test oral/aural skills.

Successful completion of 36 credits as per the training scheme application.

Monday to Friday

8.30am – 12.45pm

Assessment will be carried out on a continuous basis with students assessed against the learning outcomes of the four language skill areas.
